The purpose of this presentation is to explore the effects of a multifaceted chronic ankle instability rehabilitation program on disease-oriented and patient-oriented outcomes. This rehabilitation program combines multiple evidence-based interventions that have been previously established in the literature. Furthermore, its effectiveness will be detailed in terms of common disease-oriented measures as well as a multidimensional profile of health-related quality of life. Additionally, theoretical background of response shift theory will be discussed as to provide context to its application to chronic ankle instability rehabilitation. The exploration of response shift will help improve the interpretation self-reported function changes following rehabilitation.
Upon completion of this presentation, the participants will be able to:
a) Summarize the findings of the funded study with regards to their effects on functional outcomes for those with CAI.
b) Incorporate a multifaceted treatment approach to address impairments and overall health quality associated with CAI
c) Make use of the outcome measures discussed in the presentation, including the patient-oriented outcomes, the weight-bearing lunge test, the single limb balance test, and the star excursion balance test, within their clinical practice.
d) Characterize the effects of a 4-week comprehensive, evidence-based rehabilitation program on HRQL, range of motion, strength, and postural control in people with CAI.

This Clinical Evidence Based Practice course was developed specifically for athletic trainers.
SCHEDULE AND FORMAT
The course is delivered online using video/audio. Learners will also complete a Course Assessment and Program Evaluation.
