“The Liability Toolkit” is intended to assist the AT in understanding risk management and liability coverage, and determining if there are areas they need to do a better job protecting themselves. The AT will learn to gather the appropriate background information to assist in assessing their exposure to risk and liability, along with liability coverage for both professional and general negligence.

Objectives:
1. Distinguish the difference between protecting yourself from litigation and protecting your state license and how your employment status will impact each of these.
2. Distinguish the medical standards of informed consent and consent to treat and how they apply to the practice of athletic training.
3. Explain areas of risk for liability and develop strategies to minimize that risk.
